I was asked by Lang Syne Publishers to write a short history of the Learned Kindred of Currie. The brief was to document the family’s roots in 12th century Ireland, their association with the Lords of the Isles and much more. While this was not an academic publication it was written with a journalist’s eye following a period of extensive research.
Ken Laird Managing Director of Lang Syne Publishers said,
“Our clan and family name history books are sold around the world and when the Learned Kindred of Currie approached us to publish a book about their family, they recommended Neil Gunn as writer.
“I was familiar with his excellent work in other publications, including Scottish Memories Magazine which I founded in 1993 and published for 23 years.
“Neil brought great enthusiasm to the project. His research was thorough, his eye for detail outstanding, and his style of writing will appeal to all.
“He is now working on other projects for Lang Syne including a new edition of our popular, Whisky All You Need To Know bookazine for which he has produced excellent new ideas.
“He is also revising some of our other clan books in light of fresh information particularly in relation to septs.
“I would have no hesitation in recommending Neil to any publishing house.”
